Affiliate Membership
- Membership Type: Joint Membership with CFA Institute
- Benefits: Members receive most CFA Institute Benefits and most CFALA Benefits
- Cost: $200 (+$299 for CFA Institute Membership)
- Qualifications:
- Sign Professional Conduct Statement.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/work experience
- An active candidate for Level I of the CFA exam OR Pass the Standards of Practice Exam OR Interests are closely aligned to the objectives of CFA Institute & CFALA
- Maintain membership with CFA Institute
- 2 Professional References (if at least one is from a CFA Charterholder) or 3 Professional References:
- Make sure you remind your references to submit their referrals as soon as possible, to whitelist (or check spam/junk folder) for the domain @cfainstitute.org
- Please note that if you have CFA Charterholders submitting references for you, please make sure they log into their CFA Institute account, otherwise when they submit their reference, they will not be listed as a CFA Charterholder and it may delay your application process.

Membership Processing:
- Due to the bylaws of the society, each member must be voted on and approved by the entire CFA Society Los Angeles board.
- The board reviews all membership applications at the beginning of each month and decisions are distributed 10-15 days afterwards. Affiliate Members will need to be approved by CFA Institute prior to CFA Society Los Angeles’ membership process. If you are approved by CFA Society Los Angeles, you MUST return to CFA Institute's Website - Pay your dues AND sign your Professional Conduct Statement. Once that is completed, Membership benefits will begin.
Membership Duration:
- All Memberships expire on June 30th of the current fiscal year.
- Membership Renewal begins in early May.
