Membership Types:

  • CHARTERHOLDER: Joint Membership with CFA Institute – Full Member Benefits & CFA Designation – For those with 4 years of relevant work experience AND have passed all three levels of the CFA Exam – Click Here for More Details & Eligibility Requirements
  • REGULAR: Joint Membership with CFA Institute – Full Member Benefits – For those with 4 years of relevant work experience BUT have NOT passed all three levels of the CFA Exam – Click Here for More Details & Eligibility Requirements
  • AFFILIATE: Joint Membership with CFA Institute – Most Member Benefits – For those WITHOUT the 4 years of relevant work experience and have Passed the Level II Exam or want a joint membership– Click Here for More Details & Eligibility Requirements
  • ASSOCIATE: Local Only Membership – Most Member Benefits – For those who have an interest the Investment Industry and have NOT Passed the Level II Exam– Click Here for More Details & Eligibility Requirements
    • You do NOT need to have taken ANY of the CFA Exams to be eligible for this membership level but discounts are available for ACTIVE CFA Candidates

Membership Processing:

  • Due to the bylaws of the society, each member must be voted on and approved by the entire CFA Society Los Angeles board.
  • The board reviews all membership applications at the beginning of each month and decisions are distributed 10-15 days afterwards.
    • All Joint Memberships will need to be approved by CFA Institute prior to CFA Society Los Angeles’ membership process.
      • Charterholder & Regular Members will be given temporary membership status approximately 3 business day of pending membership with CFA Society Los Angeles.
      • Affiliate Members will need to be approved by CFA Society Los Angeles, pay their dues and sign the Professional Conduct Statement before member benefits can be applied
    • All Local Memberships will only be reviewed by CFA Society Los Angeles.
      • Associate & Student Members may request temporary access once an application has been submitted. Please email info@cfala.org with any questions

Membership Duration: 
  • All Memberships expire on June 30th of the current fiscal year.
  • Associate and Student Members who apply after March 1st, will have their membership expire on June 30th of the next year.
  • Member renewal season opens in early May.
