Charterholder Membership
- Membership Type: Joint Membership with CFA Institute
- Benefits: Members receive FULL CFA Institute and CFALA Benefits
- Cost: $200 (+$299 for CFA Institute Membership)
- Qualifications:
- Sign Professional Conduct Statement.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/work experience
- Pass all three levels of the CFA Exam
- 4,000 hours of professional work experience (completed in a minimum of 36 months)
- Maintain membership with CFA Institute
- 2 Professional References (if at least one is from a CFA Charterholder) or 3 Professional References:
- Make sure you remind your references to submit their referrals as soon as possible, to whitelist (or check spam/junk folder) for the domain @cfainstitute.org
- Please note that if you have CFA Charterholders submitting references for you, please make sure they log into their CFA Institute account, otherwise when they submit their reference, they will not be listed as a CFA Charterholder and it may delay your application process.

Membership Processing:
- Due to the bylaws of the society, each member must be voted on and approved by the entire CFA Society Los Angeles board.
- The board reviews all membership applications at the beginning of each month and decisions are distributed 10-15 days afterwards. Charterholder and Regular Members will need to be approved by CFA Institute prior to CFA Society Los Angeles’ membership process. Charterholder and Regular members will be given temporary membership status within 3 business days of approval with CFA Institute.
Membership Duration:
- All Memberships expire on June 30th of the current fiscal year.
- Membership Renewal begins in early May.
