Ann Kono | Ann Kono A seasoned C-Suite executive, has focused on increasing enterprise value for management, operating and portfolio companies her entire career. Coming from the perspective of a global functional leader, she managed organizations pre and post IPO, successfully integrated numerous M&A transactions and exceeded target synergies or milestones post close. During her last two roles, she was instrumental in designing and implementing the operating organizations and technology to enable exponential growth (300% and 600% respectively). Working in financial services over the last two decades has given her deep practical finance exposure to add value as a strategic member of a board.
In her most recent role at the large alternative asset management and private equity firm Ares Management LLC (NYSE: ARES), Ann was part of the foundational team that helped to grow and sustain ARES from a small-scale credit firm to a diverse global public asset manager with an emphasis on Private Equity and Alternative Assets. During her tenure, Ann designed and implemented much of the operational infrastructure that still stands today. In addition, she led the creation of the M&A Playbook in preparation for a highly acquisitive period pre IPO. Having spent her career scaling large firms, Ann can deliver value through her technical and operational expertise.
After leaving Ares late 2018, Ann joined Treehouse Real Estate Investment Trust as an independent director. She is leveraging her fund, alternative asset and governance experience in this role.
From an executive leadership and strategic perspective, Ann prepared Ares to go public operationally as the program manager. This project gave her insight into every functional area within the firm. With this experience, she gained a keen understanding of the regulatory, internal and external constituent requirements.
Ann serves as the Chair of Junior Achievement in Southern California (JaSocal), a non-profit focused on entrepreneurship, financial literacy and work readiness for students in elementary through high school. JASocal and its volunteers serve 70,000 students in LA annually.
Ann graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance. She went on to obtain her Masters in Business Administration from University of Southern California
