CFALA's Event Code of Conduct

By registering for or attending any CFA Society Los Angeles (“CFALA”) program, meeting, or event (each an “Event”), you (the “Attendee”), and any guest you the Attendee brings with you or person you authorize to attend any Event with you, agree to these Programming, Meeting, and Event Terms and Conditions (“Event Terms”), as amended from time to time. As used herein, the term “you” includes any guest you bring with you or person you authorize to attend any Event with you. These Event Terms apply to the Event you registered for and are subject to change at any time for any future Event.

The Event are subject to the CFALA General Terms and Conditions (“General Terms”), available at https://www.cfala.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=7151), which are incorporated herein by this reference and govern all disputes, liability limitations, indemnification, and general legal matters between Attendee and CFALA. In the event of any conflict between these Event Terms and the General Terms, the General Terms control as to matters within their scope.

Registration and Payment.

Reservations for an Event must be made in advance through the CFALA website. Payment is due at the time of registration. Reservations will be held for the full duration of the Event. Walk-ins may be accepted for in-person Events when space permits. Walk-in payment is due at the time of admission. Registration deadlines vary by Event and are noted in Event descriptions.

Cancellation Policy.

Cancellations must be received in writing by 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time on the business day prior to the Event to be eligible for a refund (which refund may be full or partial, depending on the Event and its applicable policies), unless otherwise stated at registration. No phone cancellations are accepted. Written cancellations should be sent to info@cfala.org. CFALA reserves the right to cancel any Event for any reason before the beginning of such Event.

Privacy and Data Use.

Personal data collected through Event registration is processed under our Privacy Policy (https://www.cfala.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=5623), which may change without notice. By registering for an Event, or attending an Event, you consent to the Privacy Policy terms.

Consent to Photography and Recordings.

By registering for and/or attending an Event, you consent to CFALA and its authorized partners recording, photographing, and using your image and voice for organizational purposes, including, but not limited to, publications, marketing, and social media.

Recording, Screenshots, and Promotional Activity.

Recording, transmitting, reproducing, or screenshotting any sessions, presentations, Q&A, chats, or other Event content is prohibited unless expressly authorized in writing by CFALA Staff. Speaker presentation materials and Attendee-submitted content—including questions, chat messages, and postings during the Event—must not contain promotional materials, special offers, job offers, product announcements, or solicitations, except as expressly authorized in writing by CFALA in advance. Direct selling of products or services in public areas, whether virtual or in-person, may be restricted or removed, and is strictly prohibited.

Responsible Drinking.

At Events where alcoholic beverages are present (whether provided by CFALA or purchased by you or another, or brought to an Event), you/Attendee are expected to always consume alcohol responsibly. CFALA and Event host staff reserve the right to deny service or require any attendee to leave an Event for safety or conduct-related reasons. Each Attendee bears individual responsibility for their own consumption of alcohol and for arranging safe transportation and shall not drive or operate any vehicle while impaired.

Unacceptable Behavior and Reporting.

Unacceptable behavior includes, but is not limited to: harassment, intimidation, discrimination, or abuse, including derogatory comments or conduct related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, national origin, or other protected characteristics; threats, stalking, or other intimidating conduct; knowingly false, slanderous, or libelous statements; violations of confidentiality, privacy, or intellectual property rights; violation of these Event Terms, the General Terms, the Privacy Policy, or other applicable CFALA policies, orders, or instructions; disruptive or unprofessional conduct, including damaging property or tampering with equipment; and failure to comply with instructions from CFALA staff, Event hosts, security, or law enforcement, whether verbal, written, or expressed in another manner. Attendees who experience, witness, or become aware of conduct that may violate this policy should report the matter promptly to on-site event staff or security personnel, the event organizer, CFALA staff, CFALA Chief Executive Officer Laura Carney (laura@cfala.org; (213) 613-1503 ext. 1), or CFALA Administration (info@cfala.org).

Enforcement and Sanctions.

CFALA reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to determine whether conduct violates these Event Terms or is otherwise improper, prejudicial, or detrimental or not in line with the standards, ethics, and professionalism of CFALA. CFALA may take any action deemed necessary and appropriate, including, but not limited to, immediate removal from an Event without warning or refund, removal of content, denial of access to future Events or facilities, and/or suspension or expulsion of membership from CFALA.
