An Applied Behavioral Finance Group Event

Behavioral Finance has become increasingly relevant as a means to include clients behavioral biases in investments constraints, goals, and risk tolerance. Goal based portfolios are an effective way to mitigate these biases, especially loss eversion and mental accounting. Many investment firms talk about behavioral finance and goals based investing. But are any really doing it? This discussion will dive into the realities of goals based investing from a behavioral finance perspective. We will identify types of tangible investment goals, discuss specifics allocations to address these goals, and develop a holistic portfolio. By reviewing the academic history of asset management and behavioral finance, we will understand why we use our jargon. This provides us the foundation to modify our approach to address investors goals, as opposed to academic theory targets. This discussion will be interactive with specific investment recommendations, and provide opportunity for individual customization to allow for firm specific perspectives.
