A Santa Barbara Group Sponsored Event

Santa Barbara is a one of the most beautiful cities in the world. That’s why it’s such a popular tourist destination. Rightfully so, the city has embraced tourism and benefited from the associate retail and service industries the tourism economy supports.

But now there are over 50 storefront vacancies in the heart of Santa Barbara’s retail corridor, major anchor retail outlets are leaving the area, and sales tax revenues are declining. With the dominance of online, retail brick and mortar stores simply cannot compete. So what is a local community to do understanding these new economic realities?

Come hear former Deckers Brands CEO Angel Martinez speak about moving away from a one dimensional economy. Engage in a dialog about innovation and collaboration between the private and public sectors to create vibrant communities that thrive in a post brick and mortar world.
