A Social and Networking Commission Sponsored Event
Malibu Rock Creek, an easygoing hike with lots of variety, features lovely walks down an oak shaded lane, picturesque volcanic rock pools, a scenic mountaintop lake, and old Hollywood filming sites from M.A.S.H., Butch Cassidy, and Planet of the Apes. The trail is a low-incline, 4.4-mile loop trail near Calabasas that, based on route, can take between 1 and 3.5 hours to complete (mileage between 1 – 4.4 miles). Given this flexibility, we can adapt the route on the day of depending on group sentiment. Given the heavy recent rainfall, we are keeping our fingers crossed for picturesque wildflower blooms!
Follow this link to see an in-depth walkthrough and background of the hike from HikingGuy.com and for more information about the park, visit the official site on California State Parks with this link.
After the hike, enjoy a packed lunch at the picnic tables near the trailhead. Guests and family are welcome (dogs are not allowed on the trail so please leave your furred ones at home)! Lunch will be provided, and attendees are welcome to bring outdoor games such as bocce ball, frisbee, etc.
