SPEAKERS:

Peter Early | Peter Early is the General Manager of Asset Management at SoFi, bringing more than 25 years experience in financial markets and risk to the role. Peter was most recently the President and CRO of Trend Capital Management, overseeing all non-investment aspects of the business. He has also held senior roles at Galle Global Macro, where he was President, and Wynn Las Vegas. In addition, Peter founded global macro hedge fund Big Sky Capital, and has worked for financial firms including Tiger Management and Bankers Trust Company.

Alan C. Snyder | Alan Syner is the Managing General Partner of Shinnecock Partners, a 28-year-old family office investment boutique, and its investment funds, General Partner of Shinnecock Group and Chairman and Board Member of the Western Los Angeles Boy Scout Council. Alan was the Founder and non-Executive Board Chairman of Snap Insurance LLC; the Founder, CEO, President, and Chairman of the Board of Answer Financial Inc. and the Insurance Answer Center; CEO of Aurora National Life Assurance; Executive-in-Charge of Executive Life Insurance Company on behalf of the California Department of Insurance; President and COO of First Executive Corporation, a $20 billion life holding company; and Executive Vice President and member of the Board of Directors at Dean Witter Financial Services Group (a predecessor firm to Morgan Stanley). He managed most of the product areas and as part of a three-person team undertook the development of the Discover card. John L. Jacobs | John Jacobs is a New York City/Washington, D.C. based senior business leader and the former CMO of Nasdaq, an S&P 500 company. Mr. Jacobs currently serves as Founder and CEO of Q3 Advisors, LLC and as the Distinguished Policy Fellow and Executive Director of the Center for Financial Markets and Policy at the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University. He most recently served as Senior Advisor and principal consultant to Nasdaq's CEO, President and the Executive Vice President of Global Information Services (GIS). Inthis role, he is responsible for reviewing potential opportunities in the index and data business, and supporting product and business development efforts.

Mr. Jacobs comes from a strong leadership background and has served Nasdaq in a variety of positions, starting his career with the firm in 1983. Most recently, John worked as the EVP of Global Information Services from 2013 to 2015. In this role, he guided the global development, marketing, and launch of index and data products. John achieved significant revenue growth as EVP, with a 57.2% increase ($465M) for Global Information Services, and a 50.1% increase ($355M) for the Global Data Group.

Previously, John served as Nasdaq's Chief Marketing Officer and EVP for the Global Marketing Group from 2003 to 2013, and the EVP of the Global Index Group from 2002 to 2013. He established and built the Global Index Group from the ground up, and created one of the largest ETF fund families in the world with the launch of Nasdaq's Fund business, built on the creation of QQQ - the ETF tracking the Nasdaq-100 Index. As CMO, he led all aspects of the company's brand, from strategy to execution, and carried out a transformation of the company's image from a national brand in U.S. stocks to a global leader for diversified financial services.

In the media, Mr. Jacobs has been called a "Legend of Indexing" and an "ETF Pioneer" - he has been a regular contributor and author for numerous interviews, publications, and television appearances. As an award-winning industry leader, John has contributed to the next generation of financial talent by developing and teaching Executive MBA Program courses at both Georgetown and Johns Hopkins University. John serves on several boards, as well as the Editorial Board of the Journal of Index Investing and the FinXTech Advisory Board.

Mr. Jacobs is a Certified Public Accountant, earned an MBA in Finance from Loyola University of Maryland, and received a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Maryland, College Park. Outside of his professional life, John has supported causes that include the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award Program, the University of Maryland's MBA Competition, coaching youth baseball and soccer, and serving as a mentor for young professionals. He enjoys spending time with his wife and three adult children, works in the restoration of antiques, and is an avid fitness, cycling, and swimming participant. Back To Top ^^

Colleen Poynton | Colleen Poynton is an investor with Core Innovation Capital, where she sources and invests in companies that make financial services more efficient, affordable, accessible, and secure for individuals and business. Colleen has sourced and / or executed investments across several focus areas, including: enterprise banking infrastructure (Mirador, Ripple), insuretech (Hugo), small commercial credit (Fundera), SMB benefits (Honest Dollar, Acq: Goldman Sachs), and consumer credit (Mosaic, Fair).

Prior to joining Core, Colleen worked on the Sourcing and Selection team at Endeavor Global and helped launch and scale the commercial real estate startup IIC as the first employee. She began her career in urban development with a Chicago-based CDFI, where she worked to bring high quality financial products to unbanked consumers. Colleen holds an MBA from Columbia Business School, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Princeton University. Back To Top ^^

Carol Van Cleef | Carol Van Cleef co-leads a multidisciplinary team representing numerous clients in digital currency launches, ICOs and token-generating events, operating cryptocurrency exchanges and implementing blockchain technology strategies in new and existing businesses. She provides legal and strategic advice to depository institutions, money services businesses, other financial services companies, FinTech firms and blockchain-related companies on federal and state regulatory, compliance, enforcement and business matters. She advises a range of clients, from startup businesses to publicly traded companies, private equity funds and other entities in understanding the Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act, sanctions regulations, and state money transmitter licensing statutes; creating, evaluating and enhancing anti-money laundering and OFAC compliance programs; and addressing consumer protection issues including privacy and data security and unfair, abusive and deceptive practices. Carol is a recognized leader in providing pragmatic and forward-thinking advice in the regulatory aspects of financial technology, including emerging and alternative payments systems, prepaid access, mobile payments, virtual currencies and blockchain/distributed ledger technologies.

A Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Carol created a series of AML compliance training programs sponsored by the Conference of State Bank Supervisors and attended by regulators from 45 states and representatives of domestic and foreign banks, securities firms, money services businesses and other entities. She also developed and leads an AML Compliance Bootcamp for Virtual Currency and Blockchain Technology Companies. She participated in the Uniform Law Commission's efforts to draft the Regulation of Virtual Currency Businesses Act for virtual currencies. Back To Top ^^

Paul Veradittakit | Paul Veradittakit is a Partner at Pantera Capital and focuses on the firm’s venture capital and hedge fund investments. Pantera Capital is the earliest and largest institutional investor in digital currencies and blockchain technologies, managing over $250m. Since joining in 2014, Paul has helped to launch the firm’s second venture fund and currency funds, executing over 30 investments. Paul also holds board seats, mentors a few accelerators, and advises startups. Prior to joining Pantera, Paul worked at Strive Capital as an Associate focusing on investments in the mobile space, including an early stage investment in App Annie. Previously, Paul was at Hatch Consulting and LECG and performed partnerships and growth for Urban Spoils, an early stage startup in the daily deal space. Paul graduated from the University of California, Berkeley.
