A Wealth Management Advisory Council Sponsored Event

Join us for an interactive session with industry expert, George M. Burnette, Jr., JD, as we discuss income and estate law under both current and future law should the provisions of the SECURE Act expire at the end of 2025. The speaker will discuss the most likely changes based upon the new administration. This working session will cover these potential changes and its related impact on three client scenarios, 1) corporate executive with high compensation, 2) business owner on the cusp of a liquidity event, and 3) retiree with substantial accumulated wealth. He will wrap up the session by covering various tax planning strategies designed to save taxes and satisfy clients’ philanthropic objectives as well as answering your questions.

George M. Burnette, Jr., JD, CFP, ATFA, TEP | Mr. Burnette is the Vice President, Charitable & Philanthropic Strategist at First Citizens Bank. With over a decade of experience in the legal, financial services, and nonprofit industries, George brings knowledge, professionalism and understanding of the legal and financial landscape to client relationships. He is well known as a trusted and innovative advisor, helping his clients do more with their assets and resources as they work to shape their future. Here to help develop customized philanthropic strategies for both individuals and organizations, George is experienced in charitable giving strategies, nonprofit law, estate, and business and tax planning. Drawing on the experience of a skilled team of financial professionals, First Citizens partners with clients to manage assets to help meet their financial goals and keep an eye on financial trends and new products and services. A North Carolina native, George is a graduate of Campbell University’s Norman Adrian School of Law and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was awarded a degree in History, and a degree in Peace, War and Defense. George is a licensed attorney and a member of the North Carolina Bar. George lives in Raleigh with his wife, Catie, daughter Lillian, and his dog, Lola. When not working George enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and playing and watching most competitive sports.
