A Santa Barbara Advisory Council Sponsored Event

“To solve the climate crisis, we should invest in ‘dirty’ companies, not ’clean’ ones.”

In this wonderful event, which combines education and wine tasting from local vineyards, Roger Mortimer will gives us his insights into climate investing. Roger Mortimer, KraneShares Portfolio Manager (Global Carbon Transformation ETF KGHG), believes that investors should look forwards, not backwards, when investing in climate and energy transition themes. Selecting investments on the basis of strong historical ESG or carbon intensity scoring may lead investors to companies that are already ‘clean’ or not part of the problem. Mortimer believes that investing “in the problem”, and in those companies that see the value creation potential from carbon transformation - and are actively managing towards it - may offer investors the potential to capture a valuation arbitrage available as companies transition from ‘dirty’ to ‘clean’.

Join Roger Mortimer and KraneShares Head of West Coast Bill Fagan as they lay out the investment case for investing in who they believe are the low-carbon leaders of the future.

After the presentation we will have time to do networking. Roblar Winery from the nearby Santa Ynez Valley will be at the venue presenting to us a selection of its fine wines. We will be able to chat, have a glass of wine, some appetizers, and enjoy the beautiful view of the Channel Islands from the Cabrillo Pavilion Deck.

During the discussion, they will cover:

  • How to identify decarbonization growth opportunities/transformative companies
  • How climate regulation and ESG mandates are shaping the clean energy transition
  • Long term outlook for the energy sector and decarbonization
  • Overview of the KraneShares Global Carbon Transformation ETF (Ticker: KGHG)
  • Q & A
