Environmental, Social, & Governance (ESG) investing is evolving in both its definition and application. Join us for a panel discussion that will explore how companies and asset managers are approaching ESG strategies in their retirement plans and the impact ESG regulation is having on the U.S. retirement industry. We will also envision what steps need to be taken to bring clarity to this complex topic and align with the desire to have a material impact through investing.
Zoom Meeting features will enable you to ask questions, and chat with your colleagues in real time during the speaker session, which will be followed by a 30-minute town hall session with small breakout rooms for you to share ideas and thoughts together.

Daniel Marafino | Mr. Marafino is responsible for overseeing the strategy, design, and administration of the U.S. retirement program at Google. Before joining Google in 2018, he spent nine years at Vanguard providing retirement education for their 401(k) participants and clients. Back To Top ^^
SPEAKERS
Sarah Bratton Hughes | Sarah Bratton Hughes is the Head of Sustainability, North America. Her responsibilities include leading the sustainability strategy and ESG integration in North America. She joined Schroders in 2011 and is based in New York. Previously, Sarah was an Investment Director at Schroders which involved supporting and representing the Schroders Sustainability Team as well as the Schroders US Small Cap and Schroders US Small & Mid Cap investment capabilities to clients and prospective clients. She was also responsible for ESG integration in North America.
Sarah was an Associate Product Manager at Schroders from 2014 to 2017, which involved supporting the US Equities teams and representing the Schroders US Small & Mid Cap and Schroders US Large Cap investment capabilities to clients and prospective clients. She was a product executive on the same team from 2011-2014.
Prior to joining Schroders, Sarah was a Senior Analyst Investment Performance at JP Morgan Asset Management from 2010 to 2011, which involved supporting investor and client inquiries relating to investment performance reviews. She was also a Client Service Associate at JP Morgan Chase from 2007 to 2010, which involved monitoring and implementing new account openings as well as maintenance of existing accounts. John Jacobs | John Jacobs is a New York City/Washington, D.C. based senior business leader and the former EVP and CMO of Nasdaq, an S&P 500 company. Mr. Jacobs currently serves as Chairman of Alerian, Founder and CEO of Q3 Advisors, LLC, as Board member of ProCure Funds, US Bank LiFT Board, tZERO, and SHP Trust. He serves as the Executive Director of the Center for Financial Markets and Policy, and Adjunct Professor of Finance at the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University. He most recently served as Senior Advisor and principal consultant to Nasdaq’s CEO and President. In this role, he was responsible for reviewing potential opportunities in the index and data business, and supporting product and business development efforts
Mr. Jacobs comes from a strong leadership background and has served Nasdaq in a variety of positions, starting his career with the firm in 1983. Most recently, John worked as the EVP of Global Information Services from 2013 to 2015. Previously, John served as Nasdaq’s Chief Marketing Officer and EVP for the Global Marketing Group from 2003 to 2013, and the EVP of the Global Index Group from 2002 to 2013. He established and built the Global Index Group from the ground up, and created one of the largest ETF fund families in the world with the launch of Nasdaq’s Fund business, built on his creation of QQQ – the ETF tracking the Nasdaq-100 Index.
As CMO, he led all aspects of the company’s brand, from strategy to execution, and carried out a transformation of the company’s image from a national brand in U.S. stocks, to a global leader for diversified financial services.In the media, Mr. Jacobs has been called a “Legend of Indexing” and an “ETF Pioneer”—he has been a regular contributor and author for numerous interviews, publications, and television appearances. As an award-winning industry leader, John has contributed to the next generation of financial talent by developing and teaching Executive MBA Program courses at both Georgetown and Johns Hopkins University.John serves on several boards, as well as the Editorial Board of the Journal of Index Investing and served in the past on the FinXTech Advisory Board.
Mr. Jacobs is a Certified Public Accountant, earned an MBA in Finance from Loyola University of Maryland, and received a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Maryland, College Park. Outside of his professional life, John has supported causes that include the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award Program, the University of Maryland’s MBA Competition, coaching youth baseball and soccer, and serving as a mentor for young professionals. He enjoys spending time with his wife and three adult children, works in the restoration of antiques and is an avid fitness participant.Back To Top ^^
Jas Thandi, CFA | Jas is a partner and leader of Aon’s global asset allocation team. He is responsible for leading the team’s efforts to deliver effective advice on portfolio strategy to clients globally and for leading the team’s thought integration with other business practices in the firm. Jas develops the firm’s Medium-Term Views in several asset classes.
He also is also responsible for developing the firm’s 10-year and 30-year Capital Market Assumptions. Jas sits on a number of the firm’s governance committees including, the U.S. investment committee, U.S. Responsible investment committee, and the fiduciary oversight committee. Jas has a B.S. (Hons) in actuarial science, focusing on financial economics and statistics, from The Bayes Business School, London, and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Chicago. Jas is a CFA®Charter holder.
