A CFA Society Los Angeles Women's Member Community, Los Angeles Chapter of the Financial Planning Association, and LA's 100 Women in Finance Sponsored Event

The CFA Society Los Angeles Women's Member Community, the LA Chapter of the Financial Planning Association and LA’s 100 Women in Finance have come together to offer our membership a unique opportunity to come together to hear the current state of women in the workplace across all industries with a focused look at finance from an industry research leader, McKinsey.

Deepa Mahajan will take us through the highlights of McKinsey’s research and help us discover what we can do individually to move the needle and how we can work with our employers to make bolder advances. (Copies of the research will be shared with all registered attendees ahead of the event).

McKinsey has conducted their survey for 5 years now and they say, “In the last five years, we’ve seen more women rise to the top levels of companies. Yet women continue to be underrepresented at every level. To change the numbers, companies need to focus on where the real problem is. We often talk about the 'glass ceiling' that prevents women from reaching senior leadership positions. In reality, the biggest obstacle that women face is much earlier in the pipeline, at the first step up to manager. Fixing this 'broken rung' is key to achieving parity.”

Please take just an hour on the 12th to invest in your career, the career of junior women you are mentoring, and your daughter’s career. Be the agent of change you hope all others will be.

Deepa Mahajan | Deepa Mahajan co-leads McKinsey’s digital-payments and fintech work in North America. Working with executives, she helps companies understand the disruptive technologies that are changing the nature of business, particularly in the banking and payments sectors. She brings particular expertise in the power and potential of digital payments.

Examples of her recent client work include the following: designing a new go-to-market strategy for a payment company to bring new digital-payments products to market, transforming sales segmentation and coverage models for a fintech company, leading a fintech company’s digital-transformation pilot, which included working with more than 40 cross-functional units, and developing a digital-banking business for a midsize bank.

Deepa helped lead the McKinsey Global Institute’s research on the future of work, notably that regarding the impact of the gig economy and the rise of on-demand and independent work. She has also looked at the workforce implications of the automation age.

Deepa has been a notable speaker on McKinsey’s Women in the Workplace research and report, including a recent presentation at a Profession Business Women of California forum in San Francisco.

Before joining McKinsey, Deepa worked as a product manager at a seed-funded start-up and at prominent Silicon Valley companies. Back To Top ^^
