The U.S. economy continues to underperform, but not so California.  The transformation of the U.S. economy has profound implications for the future.  California is leading the way, but how long can this go on?  Are there the seeds of a downturn brewing in Sacramento?  Is there a risk of returning to 2008 fueled by rising housing prices, low interest rates, QE-infinity, and underfunded pensions?  Historical episodes will give us some insight to these risks.
