All members welcome! Join us to gain career insight and advice from a panel of distinguished and experienced professionals in the investment management industry. Panelists will share their experiences and answer questions on the industry and what it takes to succeed at a variety of firms. This is an opportunity for professionals of all career experience levels to learn more about career paths and best practices for success. There will also be time to network with the panelists and CFALA members and guests over cocktails and appetizers.

Anne Mathias, CFA | Anne Mathias is a Managing Director and Guggenheim Investments’ Senior Macro Strategist. Building on her 20 years of experience in global investment strategy, she works closely with the firm’s Global Chief Investment Officer to formulate and communicate Guggenheim’s macro view to institutional clients, financial advisors, and internal constituents and to support the firm as a leader in capital markets & economic insight. She speaks regularly to investors and the media, appearing on Bloomberg TV, CNBC, CNN and others.

With support from a team of economists, strategists and analysts, she is also a key resource in translating the high-level views of the firm for Guggenheim’s Portfolio Managers and investment staff. Prior to this role, she was the Head of Research for Guggenheim Investments and before that, the Director of Research for Guggenheim Securities' Washington Research Group, which provides political, economic, and industry research for investors and has been consistently ranked top three in the Institutional Investor "All America Research Team" Poll.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Mathias was a General Partner in healthcare and biotech private equity funds investing in the United States and internationally, and spent five years as a senior consultant specializing in privatization and enterprise restructuring in the emerging markets with Deloitte & Touche.

Ms. Mathias has a B.A. (cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) from the University of Maryland, and a Master’s in International Affairs, with honors, from Georgetown University. She is a CFA Charter holder and a member of the CFA Society of Los Angeles and the CFA Institute.

Gretchen Flicker, CFA | Gretchen A. Flicker is a senior member of the Institutional Services team as a vice president at Dimensional, leading the Institutional Services effort in the sub-advisory market. She is also responsible for the relationship management of a number of the firm's larger clients. Gretchen, who has been with Dimensional's Institutional Services group since 1998, previously focused on developing relationships with corporate, foundation, and endowment clients in the Northeast US region. She also has experience working on the Dimensional trading desk.

Prior to joining the firm, Gretchen served as a business developer for the Hewitt Investment Group and as an investment consultant for SEI Corporation. She received an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and holds BA degrees in mathematics and business administration from Saint Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indiana. She received her CFA designation in 2004. Additionally, she sits on the board of trustees for Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana.

DeAnne Steele, CFA, CAIA | DeAnne Steele is managing director and west investment executive at U. S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management.  In this role, she is responsible for leading the Western Division’s  investment and wealth strategy professionals in their delivery and execution of  U.S. Trust®   investment capabilities, solutions  and thought leadership.   DeAnne serves as the leading investment voice and leader for the firm across the western region.  

DeAnne also serves on the firm’s Investment Strategy Committee responsible for promoting the firm’s investment policy and guidance, the Fiduciary Investment Committee responsible for governance and oversight of U.S. Trust investment process, and is a key contributor to the firm’s tactical and strategic asset allocation process.  

Prior to joining U.S. Trust, DeAnne  co-managed a mutual fund and appeared on Bloomberg and Reuters Television, in addition to serving in various trust and investment positions.  She has written, co-authored and contributed to articles for various publications.   

DeAnne earned her Masters Degree in Business Administration, Finance, from UCLA Anderson School and a Bachelor of Arts, English and Political Science from UCLA. She has received the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designations and is a member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society of San Diego.

Kwame A. Anochie | Kwame A. Anochie is an executive vice president and a member of PIMCO's global wealth management group in the Newport Beach office, where he oversees the team’s separate account servicing, including sub-advised funds and HNW family office relationships. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2003, he was with Wells Fargo Bank's commercial lending group. He has 12 years of investment experience and holds an MBA from the Anderson School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California.

Member “no-shows” will be billed the non-member fee ($60) for the event which is posted on the CFALA website.
