Julia Gouw, President and Chief Operating Officer of East West Bank, will discuss the history of the bank and how it is bridging financing between the US and Asia, how the bank is positioned to emerge from the financial crisis, and her thoughts on the bank’s future. 

 

Biography:

Julia S. Gouw is President, Chief Operating Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of East West Bancorp, Inc. (EWBC) and East West Bank.  She oversees all of the Bank's operations including finance, treasury, investor relations, enterprise risk management, credit administration, deposit and loan operations, and information technology.  Joining the bank as a Controller in 1989, Ms. Gouw served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer from 1994 to 2008.  During this time, the bank had 11 years of increasing earnings, and US Banker ranked her among the “25 most powerful women in banking” four times, and Institutional Investor among the “Best CFO’s in America” twice.

 

Previously, Gouw was a Certified Public Accountant with KPMG.  She has a BS in accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
