An expert on the Chinese economy, Richard Burdekin will discuss his thoughts on the state of China’s monetary, banking and asset markets as they emerge from the global financial crisis.

 

Richard C. K. Burdekin is the Jonathan B. Lovelace Professor of Economics at Claremont McKenna College and is an Editorial Board Member of Economic Systems and The Open Economics Journal. Previously, he has been a Visiting Senior Fellow at Hawaii’s East-West Center, a Visiting Scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and an Assistant Professor at the University of Miami. Dr. Burdekin’s research interests include monetary and financial economics and the Chinese Economy.  He has published more than 60 articles in economics journals as well as six books, including China’s Monetary Challenges: Past Experiences and Future Prospects (2008), Deflation: Current and Historical Perspectives (2004); Distributional Conflict and Inflation (1996); and Establishing Monetary Stability in Emerging Market Economies (1995). Dr. Burdekin has a BA from the University of Warwick, an MSc from the University of Bristol, and MA and PhD degrees in economics from the University of Houston.
